Bikes and Film Cameras Club with Minolta XG1 35mm SLR

From time to time I’ll have tested cameras packaged with Bikes and Film Cameras Club memberships. These are usually compact zoom point and shoots. The idea is to give someone who is interested in the club but doesn’t have a film camera an easy point of entry. These cameras will also include a roll of film and a battery (if needed) plus the Membership card, notebook, and two stickers.

The Minolta XG1 is a 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera introduced in 1978. This camera can be used in full manual exposure mode, though it’s best shot in aperture-priority mode–set the aperture and the camera will figure out the best shutter speed for you! The camera also features a self-timer and battery check. A Five Star f/2.8 28mm lens is included so you can take pictures immediately after receiving your package. And you can use almost any of Minolta’s manual focus (SR/MC/MD) lenses with this camera, opening you up to a world of great and underappreciated glass. (Minolta Auto-Focus lenses WILL NOT WORK with this camera.)

The leatherette cover is starting to peel on this camera, which does not affect performance in the slightest.

THIS FILM CAMERA HAS BEEN TESTED BY ME. You can see the results in the photos, the ones after the images of camera and membership kit. Please note that there is no warranty on the camera.
